About this tool

Instagram Post Size Resizer

Instagram (insta) posts are 1080 px wide and can be square (1:1), portrait (4:5) or landscape (1.91:1). Anything taller than 4:5 is cropped by Instagram, which is why full-length and group photos often lose heads or feet.

Upload any photo and it's cropped to square 1080 × 1080 px, portrait 1080 × 1350 px, landscape 1080 × 566 px. Move the slider to choose which part stays in the frame, or add a border to keep the whole picture, then download a sharp JPG ready to upload to Instagram.

Portrait 1080 × 1350 takes up the most space in the feed. For a carousel, use the same size for every photo.

Portrait 1080 × 1350 px (4:5), because it fills the most of the screen in the feed. Square posts are 1080 × 1080 px and landscape posts 1080 × 566 px.

Pick the size you want and choose the border option. The whole photo is fitted inside with a white border, so Instagram doesn't cut anything off.

Square: 1080 × 1080 pixels (width × height), a 1:1 ratio; Portrait: 1080 × 1350 pixels (width × height), a 4:5 ratio; Landscape: 1080 × 566 pixels (width × height), a 1.91:1 ratio. Phones and computers measure pictures in pixels, not inches or cm, so the pixel size is what matters.

Yes. It's saved as an HD, high-quality JPG at exactly the size Instagram shows, so Instagram has less reason to compress it again and it stays sharp.
